Choosing the Right Projector

The Mini Projector Selector

How do you begin to decide

  •  if a Mini Projector will meet your requirements?
  • which Mini Projector is right for you?

Let’s start with a few ABC’S to consider:

The A’s

Audience size - how many people will you generally be presenting to and what’s your maximum audience

Ambience - how light or dark can you make the presentation room

Aspect Ratio - 4:3, 16:9, 16:19, 2.35:1, what does it all mean?

Audio Quality - do you need audio and if so, how loud do you need it?

The B’s

Brightness - measured in Lumens, more Lumens = more light on the viewing surface

Battery - do you need a battery for portability or is power always available

Budget - we have a range of mini projectors to suit most budget$

The C’s

Contrast Ratio - the ratio of black to white in the projected image. The higher the Contrast Ratio, the “crisper” the image will appear, especially noticeable with text documents.

Connections - what device are you connecting to your mini projector, what adaptors, cables or dongles might you need. WiFi is available for most mini projectors now.

Clarity - or Focus, all of our mini projectors have a Focus control for clarity

The S’s

Size of Image - How big do you want your screen size to be, how do you adjust the size

Smart - Smart mini projectors have a media player on-board which allows you to play movie files, slide shows, even basic Office files from RAM, USB or SD or TF card. You can also connect your smartphone, tablet, iPad, iPod, laptop, Mac

Simple - Simple mini projectors require another device such as your smartphone, tablet, iPad, iPod, laptop, Mac connected to produce an image.

Screen - Do you need one? A matt white or pale wall will generally be just fine for most screenings, but if you want better quality or can’t guarantee a pale wall where you are going, you might need to consider a screen. (Tip: avoid shiny surfaces such as whiteboards)

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be expanding on a few of these points and a few that we haven’t mentioned here to help you with your projection selection.

So stay tuned for the next illuminating episode.
