In the 20th century, the world moved from mini to micro to nano. The 21st century followed suit.  Compact is the latest trend and from clothes to electronics - everything is becoming sleeker. Projectors have also transformed greatly over the past decade. Today, the handheld mini projector has become the preferred choice over the bulky fixed projector.

A mini projector is no longer a passive device that just connects to a laptop and projects an image. These handheld micro projectors are quite often equipped with onboard flash memory ranging from 2 to 4 Gb while some others also have a mobile OS like Windows CE. These projectors can also have an SD slot to support additional memory. With such power packed features, a mini projector can be everything that you need to carry for a presentation.

The onboard operating system and memory allows a projector to work like a laptop. Most portable projectors have an average battery life of an hour. Some projectors can last on a single battery charge for two hours or more.  Although these devices are called mini projectors, they can project sharp images that are 60" to 100" wide. This makes a mini projector an ideal solution for corporate presentations. It is a great device for a sales & marketing team as it can easily fit in a laptop bag or even into a pocket and can be used to effectively deliver presentations to a single person or a small group. The projections can be displayed on a flat wall or on portable screens. Wireless keyboard and mouse are easily available in the market and can be used to work with a smart mini projector.

For people who do not wish to invest in a projector cum laptop, there are other versions of portable projectors available that can connect to multiple devices including mobile phones, laptops or anything that has an AV output. Such a mini projector can be used with a tablet or a smartphone and can completely replace a laptop. Many people think that mini projectors need a completely dark room for good projection, but this is not true. These pico projectors have an output that can range from 15 to 240 lumens.  Depending on the requirement, a projector with a suitable output can be chosen.

Thus, a mini projector is a smart choice for meetings, presentations, sales, etc. Most mini projectors weigh just over 100 or 200 grams and fit easily into your palm or your bag or your pocket. Couple these projectors with a portable screen and you will never go back to your old projector.   Along with an onboard OS, a mini projector can also have Wi-Fi to allow users to connect to the internet through the projector and thus, completely eliminate the need of a laptop.
